The Valiants, Tiftarea Academy and Deerfield-Windsor all sit at 3-2 in the standings. Tiftarea walked off a 3-2 win over the Knights in extra innings Tuesday.

They were up 8-3 when they came to bat in the sixth.

Two were hit by pitches and Triston White reached on an error to fill the bases with no outs. Dax Womack singled in two to make it a seven-run lead.

Colson Smith put them on the cusp of the run-rune with a two-RBI hit before Dustin Gibbs ended it with a single to drive in Andre Belcher.

Official GameChanger stats show a three-RBI day for Will Greene. Gibbs had three hits and Womack scored three times. Dyson Powell homered.

Crump had seven strikeouts. Only one of Brookwood’s three runs was earned.

Valwood split its earlier region series with Terrell Academy and Tiftarea. Finishing a sweep of Brookwood Friday would help their chances of winning region. Next week’s series with Deerfield is the end of the conference schedule. The Valiants go to Albany Tuesday before hosting next Friday.

Tiftarea has Terrell as its remaining series. This is the final region series for Brookwood.

The GIAA playoffs take the top 12 teams in Class 3A for the state playoffs. Valwood is currently ninth, with Tiftarea 10th, Terrell 11th and Brookwood 12th. Deerfield-Windsor is fifth. Pinewood Christian is atop the rankings.
