The team from Miller Hardware won the lane sponsorship and the best team trophy. Alzheimer’s Caregiver Time Out is very thankful for all those who bowled and the businesses that sponsored lanes and teams.
Sponsors included: Comfort Keepers, State Farm/Paul Cribbs, Guardian Bank, Citizens Community Bank, Stout and Sheffield CPA’s, Dame, Walker, Hardeman and Co. CPA’s, Miller Hardware, Coca-Cola, Renasant Bank and employees of Quad Graphics Inc.
All proceeds went to ACTO.
ACTO is a Greater Valdosta United Way participating agency. The non-profit provides care to those suffering from any kind of dementia. They feed clients a hot well-balanced lunch every day. Activity Director Pamela Long has the day planned out with music, crafts, exercise, the pledge and Bible time. Bingo and other games are played in the afternoon.
About 1,900 people in Lowndes County suffer from some sort of dementia. ACTO is an ideal place to bring loved ones while the caregiver has some much-needed time off. The cost is very minimal — $75 for the entire month or $10 a day, whichever is less.
This past year ACTO received money from a Bruce Williams grant. This donation paid for a new refrigerator, dishwasher, two picnic tables and many more items that were greatly needed.
Clients are given plenty of tender, loving care and treated with the utmost dignity and respect. With 80% of dementia being Alzheimer’s, the organization is pleased to be a part of the last chapter of their lives. At ACTO “memories matter” and our families are special.
