Girls on the Run South Georgia celebrates 10 years with ribbon cutting

Girls on the Run South Georgia marked 10 years of empowering young girls with a ribbon cutting ceremony at its headquarters, 2410 Andover Drive in Valdosta.

Since launching in 2015 with just 27 girls, the organization has grown to serve more than 3,000 participants across 44 counties in Georgia and parts of Coastal Georgia and South Carolina.

The event was made possible through a partnership with Leadership Lowndes Group 2, whose support included the installation of two new signs to increase program visibility. These signs represent the organization’s long-term commitment to building a stronger community by inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident.

Girls on the Run combines life skills education with physical activity for girls in grades three through eight, culminating in a 5K that reinforces goal-setting and achievement. The program is expanding through partnerships with local schools, businesses and volunteers, including new opportunities to become a SoleMate — training for a fitness challenge while raising funds for the program.

The Flower Gallery sponsored the ribbon cuttings.
