SGMC Health invites the community to attend its 2025 Stroke Seminar, scheduled for 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 14 at the Holiday Inn, 1805 W Hill Ave in Valdosta.
This free educational event offers a complimentary lunch and an engaging “lunch and learn” seminar featuring expert physicians discussing vital topics in stroke prevention, treatment and post-stroke support. The seminar is designed for stroke survivors, caregivers, family members and anyone interested in learning how to reduce their risk of stroke and support loved ones through recovery.
This year’s panel of distinguished physician speakers includes:
- Roohi Farooq, MD, neurology
- David Hardy, MD, vascular surgery
- Kimberly Mackey, MD, neurosurgery
- Luke Seibolt, MD, interventional cardiology
- Cole Seaton, DO, emergency medicine
- Hernan Posas, MD, neurology
Together, they will cover a broad range of topics, including recognizing stroke symptoms, cutting-edge treatment options, lifestyle changes for prevention and resources for ongoing recovery.
“As physicians, we see every day how critical it is to recognize and treat stroke as early as possible,” said Dr. Seaton, co-director of SGMC Health’s stroke program. “This seminar is a unique opportunity for the public to hear directly from specialists who are on the front lines of stroke care. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to reduce their risk and support loved ones through recovery.”
The event is free and open to the public thanks to generous support from the SGMC Health Foundation. Registration is encouraged due to limited seating. Light refreshments and lunch will be provided.
