VALDOSTA— Kool Comics will once again open its doors to fans, young and old, for Free Comic Book Day, a nationwide celebration of comics and reading, set to take place Saturday, May 3.
Since opening in 2002, Kool Comics has been a staple in the local comic book community of Valdosta for nearly 23 years. Owner Andre Oliver has participated in the event for approximately 20 years, collaborating with nearly 50 distributors to offer a wide selection of free comics to attendees, no purchase required.
“It reminds parents of the importance of reading for their children. It helps reinvigorate their imaginations and their desire to read,” Oliver said. “You’re literally walking away with a full-sized comic book.”
Free Comic Book Day is a way to bring new readers into stores and foster a love for the medium. Kool Comics looks to offer titles for all ages and interests, making it a fun destination this weekend to discover something new or reconnect with a classic.
Kool Comics is located at 1515 N Ashley St.
