TIFTON — Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation will perform major reconstruction of Interstate 75 at different locations between Exit 37/Adel-Old Quitman Road and the Crisp/Dooly County line. To ensure motorists and contractor safety, this work will warrant lane closures and traffic shifts along this section of I-75, which could cause short delays. However, there will be no lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Georgia DOT reports the following construction activities are tentatively planned through Oct. 8:

COOK/TIFT: The I-75/Exit 41 onramp has been temporarily closed to traffic. This ramp closure is being utilized to allow the replacement of the railroad overpass bridge on I-75 north. I-75 northbound traffic has been shifted between mile marker 39 and mile marker 43. I-75 southbound traffic has been shifted near mile marker 55. The Exit 55 on-ramp and off-ramp has been realigned to new configuration.

TURNER: I-75 north and southbound, between milepost 78 and 84, has recently been opened to six lanes. The Denham Road is now opened to traffic. Night time shoulder work will continue on I-75 Northbound and Southbound.

CRISP: Construction activities could include lane closures from Exit 99/SR 300 to the Dooly County line. Southbound I-75 traffic was shifted onto the recently-constructed lanes of I-75 between Exits 99 and 104.

The northbound I-75 on-ramp at Exit 101 has been temporarily closed; a detour route is posted. Northbound I-75 traffic has been shifted to the southbound lanes from milepost 98 to milepost 105. This project requires much of the project shoulders to be temporarily closed with barrier walls. Emergency pull-offs will be provided at various locations throughout the project between the Crisp/Dooly County line and milepost 98. Signs will be posted along the new temporary route to assist motorists.

The Georgia DOT notes that the above construction schedules are proposed activities planned by the contractors and may change due to weather conditions or other factors.

As in any work zone, motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the work zone.
