“Basically, we want to take the time to make sure that the community is informed about health care…what lawmakers are trying to put into place…and how health care affects us,” Andrea Williams, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., community service chair, said. “This was a collaborative effort through all chapter members as part of an International Health Justice Initiative set forth by our International President Sheryl Underwood.”

A group of panelists will provide an overview of the health care topic and their views on the issue. Zeta Sigma Zeta Graduate Chapter wants to provide the community with different perspectives on health care, Williams said.

Currently, the panel will consist of Dee Byers, health insurance industry representative; Dr. Lynne Feldman, director of the South Health District; Dr. Christine James, associate professor of philosophy and religious studies at Valdosta State University; and former Ray City Mayor, Carl Camon. They are also trying to find a Republican representative.

Local organizations have been invited and the entire community is welcome to attend.

“We encourage everyone from every walk of life (to come) because it (health care) affects everybody,” Williams said.
