Faye Harper Bush

Mrs. Faye Harper Bush, 67, of Live Oak, FL, passed away on Thursday July 29, 2010, at Lafayette Health Care following an extended illness. Mrs. Bush was born May 20, 1943 in Mayo to the late Willie Starling and Lessie Walker Zack, and has lived in Live Oak since 1993, moving from Palm City, FL. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Bush worked as a school bus driver and enjoyed fishing, cooking, bird keeping, and raising chickens in her spare time. She loved all animals, especially her puppies and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kindsey Harper.

Mrs. Bush is survived by, her husband, James C. Bush, of Live Oak, her mother Lessie Zack, of Jacksonville, FL, 2 sons, Steven Harper, and wife Lori, of Live Oak, and Ryan Harper, of Ft. Pierce, FL, 2 daughters, Kay Garrison, and husband Bill, of Tucson, Az., and Wanda Timmons, and husband Tommy, of Stuart, Fl., 2 stepsons, Kenny Bush, of Live Oak, and Chucky Bush, and wife Jennifer, of Port St. Lucie, Fl., 2 stepdaughters, Gloria “Dubi” Bush and Cathy Bush, both of Stuart, FL, 1 sister, Loveeda, and husband Neil, of Jacksonville, a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Gilbert, of Live Oak, 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bush were conducted at 1:00PM Tuesday August 3, 2010 at new Hope Baptist Church with Bro. Charlie Walker officiating. Interment followed in Land Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8PM Monday evening August 2 at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Mayo who is in charge of all arrangements.

Michael Charles Duda

Born: Aug. 21, 1998, joined his Heavenly Father, July 30, 2010.

He is survived by his parents, Tommy and Karen (Hurst) Duda, brothers Eric and Christopher, grandparents Ed & Sadye Duda & Donald & Margaret Hurst, many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends.

Michael’s joyful, always smiling, positive personality, Christ-like countenance & zeal for life, while putting others first, made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Visitation was held Tues. from 6-9 pm at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 SR 82, Fort Myers. A memorial service was held Wed. at 11 am at Gateway Trinity Lutheran Church, 11381 Gateway Blvd., Fort Myers.

Graveside service is 11 am, Fri., Aug. 6 at Hatch Bend Baptist Church, 3029 SE COUNTY RD 500, Branford, FL.

Alton Moon

September 16, 1933 -July 28, 2010

Alton Moon, 76, McAlpin ,Fla. passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 after long illness. The Mayo, Fl native moved to McAlpin from Live Oak twenty-five years ago. He worked for Beaver Trucking in Live Oak for thirty-eight years and was a member of Mt. Paron Baptist Church.

Mr. Moon is survived by his wife of 50 years, June Moon, McAlpin, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Neal, Lake City, Fla., Christine Morris, Lake City, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Moon will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Human Frier and Rev. Leroy Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Robert James Snipes

Mr. Robert James Snipes Sr., 61, of Mayo, passed away Thursday July 29, 2010 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center. Mr. Snipes was born January 14, 1949 to the late John Thomas, and Ethel Gaskin, Snipes and was a lifelong resident of Mayo. He worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Mayo Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and fishing. He was preceded in death by a son Robert James Snipes Jr.

Mr. Snipes is survived by, 1 son, Thomas “Wayne” Snipes Sr., of Mayo, 2 daughters, Paula Folsom, of Mayo, and Heather Snipes, of Jacksonville, FL, 1 sister, Barbara Snipes, of Mayo, 9 grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Snipes were conducted at 4 PM Tuesday August 3, 2010 in the Joe P. Burns-Morgan Memorial Chapel in Mayo with Bro. Howell Koon officiating. The family received friends from 2:30-4 PM prior to the service. All arrangements were under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Mayo.
