Lois McClellan
WEST BERRIEN — Lois McClellan, 73, of West Berrien, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 31, 1929, in Hillsborough County, Fla., to William Haskins and Kate Savilla Johnson Phillips. Mrs. McClellan was a homemaker and retired teller with the First National Bank of Tampa, Charter Member and First Church secretary for Northgate Baptist Church in Tampa. Mr. and Mrs. McClellan were married for 51 years. She is survived by her husband, Harwell R. McClellan of West Berrien; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Lewis Campbell of West Berrien; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sarah and Robert VanAvery of West Berrien; and one great-grandson, London Tyler VanAvery. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Tift Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wayne Roberts officiating. Lillie McCranie Meadows
VALDOSTA — Lillie McCranie Meadows, 93, resident of Valdosta for 75 years, died on Monday, April 8, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Plainfield, on Feb. 15, 1909, she was the daughter of the late John Lewis and Eliza Jane Jones McCranie. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Orville Parr of Valdosta, Betty and Tommy Sewell of Winter Garden, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Betty Meadows of Valdosta; 10 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.F. Meadows, a brother and three sisters. Dr. Henry Cannington will officiate at graveside services at 1 p.m. today in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will gather at Carson McLane Funeral Home at noon today to visit with friends. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
Thomas N. (Tommy) Pitchford
VALDOSTA — Thomas N. (Tommy) Pitchford, 60, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on March 31, 1942, in Salado, Ark., to Altha Owens Pitchford and the late Keith Pitchford. Mr. Pitchford retired from Valdosta Middle School as an industrial arts and technology teacher after a 30-year teaching career where he had taught thousands of students. He was active in the Technology Student Association, both at local and state levels. Mr. Pitchford was a Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Pitchford of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ben Pitchford of Greenville, S.C., Todd and Michelle Pitchford of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Julia Pitchford and Ellison Pitchford; his mother, Altha Pitchford of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Gail Pitchford of Tallahassee, Fla.; mother-in-law, Elise Gibson of Madison, Fla.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Byron Ellington of Berea, Ky.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, the Rev. Byron Ellington, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, Fla. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
