Margaret Berniece “Bunnie” Boswell Page

Margaret Berniece “Bunnie” Boswell Page died at home in Madison, Fla., after a brief illness on Sunday, July 25, 2010, with her family around her.

Funeral services will 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Madison with burial held in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be this evening, July 27, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home.

She was born in Hominey, Okla. on June 29, 1922 to William Robert and Emma Frances Kirkendoll Boswell. A child of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, she grew up in Wichita, Kan. with six sisters and one brother. During World War II, she worked in Wichita as a dental assistant and met her husband of 60 years, Ernest M. Page, Jr., who predeceased her in 2006. Ernest and Bunnie were married in the Greenville  Baptist Church as the war came to an end. She accompanied him to law school at the University of Florida where daughter Vicki was born. They moved to Madison were Ernest established his law practice, and where sons Ernie and John were born. She assisted Ernest for over 50 years as the secretary for his law practice.

Bunnie loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She was proud to recall that her high school choral group won first place in the Kansas state-wide competition. She was a long-time member of the choir at First Baptist Church of Madison where she sang many solos through the years. She also taught the youth for many years in the church Training Union Department. She was a member of the Woman‘s Club and the Madison County Gator Club. She and Ernest were charter members of the Madison Country Club.

She often said that she cherished her loving family and was pleased when they gathered to celebrate her 88th birthday a few weeks ago. She will be greatly missed by her family, including her three children, Margaret Victoria Page Jaus (Harold) of Charlotte N.C., Ernest M. Page, III (Marguerite) of Madison, and John Prince Page (Cindy) of Valdosta, Ga. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer Page Jaus and Margaret Nell Jaus Baldwin (Benjamin) of Charlotte, N.C., Ernest M. Page IV (Jennifer) of Dowling Park, William Travis Page (Kyndell) of Madison, John Christian Page and David Andrew Page of Valdosta, Ga. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Austin and Andrew Fender. She has three great-grandchildren, Miller Jaus Baldwin, Kloie Michelle Page, and Logan Patrick Page. Also surviving is her sister Jacqueline Koonce of Independence, Mo., and sister-in-law Norma Boswell of McPherson, Kan.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother G. D. (Joe) Boswell, sisters Hazel Hodges, Velma Berg, Mabel Hein, Lorraine Kinslow, and Irene Holman, and great-grandson Maddox Jackson Page, infant son of Ernie and Jennifer Page.
