Mellie Pearl Young Fletcher

Mellie Pearl Young Fletcher of Perry, Fla., formerly of Cook County, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Perry. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home of Adel.



William Morton Wallace, Sr.

William Morton Wallace, Sr., 96, of Quitman died Friday, September 17, 2004 in Thomasville, Ga. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at McLane Funeral Home and a graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. — Carson McLane Funeral Home.



Raymond Ernest Brown, Sr.

WAYNESBORO, Ga. — Mr. Raymond Ernest Brown, Sr., 66 entered into rest Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at the Burke Medical Center. Mr. Brown managed Mundy’s Gin in Waynesboro from 1970-2003. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher and on the Board of Administration. He was a former Jaycee’s President.

A visitation for Mr. Brown was held in the First United Methodist Church Social Hall from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 with the service immediately following in the Sanctuary at 2 p.m. The Rev. Mark Singletary officiated. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sunday Sept. 19, 2004 in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, Fla.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Marjorie Barber Brown, Waynesboro; daughter, Tracy B. Allmond and husband Royce, Madison, Fla.; son, Raymond Ernest “Ernie” Brown, Jr. and wife Sally of Hickory N.C.

Pallbearers will be Manton Horton, Jr., Bob Bolton, Bill Hargrove, Gene Redd, Wendell Barefield, John Mundy, George DeLoach and Charlie Waters. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Brinson-Coleman Sunday School Class.

Julian Cecil Davis, Jr.

VALDOSTA — Julian Cecil Davis, Jr., 65, of Valdosta passed away Friday afternoon, Sept. 17, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Tifton, Ga. and had lived in Valdosta for the past 10 years. He was Pentecostal by faith. Cecil enjoyed collecting most anything but had a special interest in watches and crosses. He also enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include his mother, Ann Bludsworthof Valdosta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Donald Frier of Valdosta, Linda and Bill Pruitt of Lakeland, Fla., Betty Jo Davis of Tampa, Fla., Barbara and Ron Abbott of Lady Lake, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, in the Azalea City Church of God with the Rev. Bobby Tatum and Rev. Raymond Gabbard officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Mr. Davis will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Betty S. Holton

ADEL, Ga. — Mrs. Betty S. Holton, 70, of Adel, Ga., passed away Saturday, Sept. 18 at Tift Regional Medical Center following a short illness. She was homemaker and a member of the Westside Baptist Church. She was born Aug. 2, 1934 to the late Virgil Wright Shiver and Bertha Lee Shiver in Quitman, Ga., and lived most of her life in Cook County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul W. Holton, Sr., and two brothers and six sisters. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul W. Holton, Jr. of Adel and Larry and Audrey Holton of Adel; three daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Brian Lipsey of Oviedo, Fla., Ramonda Holton of Sparks, and Sharon and Warren Spradley of Brunswick; nine grandchildren, Holly and Kyle Holton of Adel, Heather and Chris Lipsey of Oviedo, Fla., Lee Heuthorn of Sparks, Grey and Kayla Holton of Adel, and Ted and Rachael Spradley of Brunswick; one great-granddaughter, Christina Lipsey of Oviedo, Fla.; one sister, Willa Dean Barker of Quitman; special niece, Elnora Chapman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday at Westside Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hendley and Rev. Wallace Barber officiating, with interment to follow in Woodlawn City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home North. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home



Nancy Elizabeth King Sewell

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Nancy Elizabeth King Sewell, 70, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at her home in Palm Beach Gardens after a year long bout with cancer.

A longtime Atlanta resident, she moved there affter earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Wesleyan College in Macon and took her first job in the advertising department at Rich’s. From there, she pursued a lifelong career in advertising, owning her own agency for many years and taking on numerous other leadership roles including president of the Junior Committee of the Atlanta Symphony, chairman of the Atlanta Decorators Showhouse, consultant for other Decorators Showhouses around the country and she worked more than 10 years producing the Decorators Showhouse Yearbook.

Born in Valdosta, Ga. to the late Leonard Joseph and Emma Sue Morris King, Nancy was a true genteel Southern Lady who touched many lives with her charm, her intellect, her passion for the arts and her loving generous heart.

Nancy is survived by her son, Albert Clarence Sewell, IV; her daughter Elizabeth Sewell Deck; grandsons, Justin Stanford Deck and William Spencer Deck; and her granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Deck. She also leaves behind her former husband, Albert Clarence Sewell, III and his wife, Frances Black Sewell; her son-in-law, Walter Stanford Deck; her “other” daughter-in-law, Sherra Deierhoi Sewell; especially her “mudpie” buddies and many cherished friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Father Peter Ingeman officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
