Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority presents area high school students with almost $20,000 in college scholarships

VALDOSTA — A Valdosta sorority chapter awarded scholarships to area high school seniors recently.
Five $2,000 scholarships were given to students from high schools in Brooks, Cook, Hamilton and Lowndes counties and the Valdosta city school system, as well as the Valdosta Early College Academy, a statement from the Kappa Eta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority said.
Five $1,000 scholarships were granted to students from each of these schools as well, and five $500 book scholarships were also presented, the statement said.
The scholarships winners were:
— Valdosta High/Valdosta Early Career Academy: Kayla Calloway, Johnny Ball I, and Jalen Denton.
— Lowndes High School:  Stephen Peterson, Miles Green and Laila Hill.
— Brooks County High School: Angel Reynolds, Areona Proctor and Juanita Justo.
— Cook County High School:  Diamond Williams, Nelly Fernandez and Allana Holiday.
— Hamilton County High School: Gracie Tabor, Nykol Jackson and Anna Morgan.
Kappa Eta Omega awarded the scholarships in conjunction with the Kappa Upsilon chapter at Valdosta State University.
