Jeanette Frances Hall Smith

Jeanette Frances Hall Smith passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Lafayette Health Care Center following a long illness with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases.  She was born to the late Oresta and Mae Hall on April 3, 1931, in Babson Park, Florida.  She was raised in Polk County, Florida and graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1949.

Jeanette was devoted to her Lord and to her family.  She was a kind, gentle, and caring person, always willing to help in any way she could.  She was a member of Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, Florida.  She was very active in church work, especially in the children’s nursery and with the hospitality committee.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harold Loyd Smith; her daughter, Betina Loye Smith Hurst and her husband Rick;  her son, Randall Loyd Smith and his wife Robin; four grandchildren, Logan Richard Hurst, Lauren Hurst Daniels and her husband Jordan,  Samantha Smith Chamberlain and her husband Joey and Cameron Brent Smith; one great-grandson, Josiah Benjamin Daniels and one great-granddaughter, Madison Annelle Chamberlain;  two brothers, Charles Wesley Hall and his wife Joyce, Billy Lee Hall and his wife Kitty; and one sister,  Betty Jean Hall Pedersen and her husband Jim.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the Brewer Lake Baptist Church Bus Fund, P. O. Box 119, Day, FL 32013; or the Lafayette County Health Care Center, 512 West Main St., Mayo, FL 32066, 386-294-3300.

Margaret Crosby Deas White

Margaret Crosby Deas White, age 61, of Jennings, Fla. passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 31, 2010 at her home. She was born in Brunswick, Georgia on March 28, 1949 to Frank and Nora Crosby. Margaret loved working in the yard and was blessed with a gift to grow plants and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was an inspiration and strength to all who knew her. Margaret was a member of West Lake Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Joe White, Jennings; three daughters, Jada Deas (Jay Wise), of Statenville, Ga., Jana Sullivan (Kevin), Live Oak, Fla. and Kristan Murphy (Buddy), Jennings, Fla.; four step-sons, Joe White Jr. (Tammy), Hahira, Ga., Mickey White, Lakeland, Ga., Stacy White, Richmond, Va., and Levi White, Lakeland, Ga.; her mother, Nora Henderson, Statenville, Ga.; one brother, Pete Crosby (Lanie), Jasper, Fla.; two sisters, Linda Rogers (Ronald) Statenville, Ga. and Annette Roberts (Paul), Reynolds, Ga.; four grandchildren, Ethan Sullivan, Zac Murphy, Logan Sullivan and Megan Murphy; fourteen step-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at West Lake Church of God near Jennings. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Jennings, Fla.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, FL.
