The director of safety at Wild Adventures Theme Park called a team of responders “heroes” after they saved the life of a young child this week.
At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, Splash Island lifeguards identified an unresponsive 3-year-old girl in Paradise River, a media release from the theme park stated. A lifeguard, a supervisor and a park security officer performed CPR on the child and revived her before she was transported by emergency medical services to South Georgia Medical Center, according to the release.
Evan Schukman, director of safety, stated by email, “Wild Adventures Theme Park is extremely proud of the park’s lifeguards and team members whose quick, trained response helped to save a little girl’s life.”
Schukman, through public relations coordinator Micha Hogan, said the park could not comment on questions concerning recent dismissals of lifeguards at Wild Adventures. He was also asked if there was a recent change of supervisors in the water park, and his answer was, “While we can’t comment on the specifics of a team member’s employment status, we can say that there was not a complete change of supervisors.”
There were eight lifeguards stationed at Paradise River, which, according to Schukman, is designated appropriate by the park. At the time of the incident, the child’s parents/guardians were in the water park, but no other information concerning them was provided.
