Annie Mertice Croft

Annie Mertice Croft, age 95, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Thursday morning, January 13, 2011 at Suwannee Health Care in Live Oak, Fla. following a lengthy  illness. The native and life-long resident of Live Oak, Fla. was a homemaker and before she became ill she loved to fish, enjoyed gardening, traveling, loved Elvis Presley and was one of the last to see him perform on his final tour.  She was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of Live Oak.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Oliver & Annie Pearl Smith, her husband, George Washington Croft and a son, Connie C. Croft.

Survivors include one son, G.W. (Bonnie) Croft, Live Oak, Fla.; four daughters, Bonnie Jane (L.J.) Mobley, McAlpin, Fla.; Mary Pearl Rankin, Live Oak, Fla.; Ann (Wayne) Gude, Live Oak, Fla.; Linda Walther, Live Oak, Fla.; twenty-two grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held, Saturday Jan. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the First Advent Christian Church with Rev. Tim Carver officiating.   Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery.

Ruth Dixon, 70, Lake City, Fla. passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 after a long illness. The Orlando, Fla. native moved to Lake City in 1990 from Ft. Myers, Fla. and was a member of Columbia Baptist Church. She was the store manager with Eckerd in Ft. Myers and Lake City locations.

She is survived by her son, Jerry L. Dixon, Lake City, Fla.; three sisters, Lois Flowers, Live Oak, Fla., Carol Deas, Live Oak, Fla., Agnes Karvonen, Dothan, Ala.; one brother, Richard Locklear, Newton, Ala.; and very close friends Mary & Chad Spin. She is preceded in death by her husbands, George Perry and Floyd Dixon, and son George Perry Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Friday, January 14, 2011 at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Daryl Tomlinson officiating.

Ms. Bernice Mcleod Gunsby, of Jasper, Florida was born September 1, 1925 to the late John Mcleod and Blanche Gandy. Bernice answered the heavenly master’s call Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. Homegoing services is to be held 11 Saturday, January 15, 2011 at North Hamilton Elementary School, with Rev. Billy Mitchell officiating.
