Branford hosted Union County at the home field after waiting for the rain to clear out. Branford has certainly showed during the summer play that there is quite a few secrets that the Bucs are slowly releasing.
A lot of young talent has been used by Coach Bonds, and they are certainly looking good early which is a great sign.
Anthony Cannon got himself a huge two RBI hit against the Tigers which pulled the Bucs within a 9-6 score. Cannon was a force for the junior varsity team a year ago, and looks to be an asset to the varsity squad in 2006.
Another surprise was on the pitching mound. I must admit I was curious as to whether David Campbell could pitch or not. He seems to do well at everything else he tries. He can pitch too, as proven with his couple of innings of work against Lake Butler. He was able to get quite a few strikeouts during his stay on the mound and seemed to be quite comfortable there.
