William Edward Grant, 18, Live Oak and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested when they were caught attempting to remove an air compressor from Landen’s Grocery on Tuesday.

Reports show that officers from the LOPD responded to a burglary in progress at the store located at 303 Hamilton Ave. on the morning of Dec. 6.

When officers arrived, they encountered Grant and the 16-year-old attempting to exit a back door of the building. Police found they had entered the building through a back door and by kicking open a secondary door.

Grant and the juvenile were taken into custody. While being interviewed, Grant admitted to his involvement in the Nov. 26 burglary of the same store, where he and an unknown accomplice entered the building in the same manner as the Dec. 6 incident.

Nothing was taken from either incident.

The LOPD is seeking the identity of the unknown accomplice from the Nov. 26 burglary who they believe is a Lake City resident.

Anyone with any information concerning these cases is urged to contact LOPD Detective Justin Bates at 386-362-7463 ext. 232 or Crime Stoppers at 386-208-8477.

Grant was arrested and booked on three charges of burglary and one charge of theft.
