Aug. 19, 1945 – Nov. 24, 2011

Wycliff Carlton Wynn age 66, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Thursday afternoon Nov. 24, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Columbia County. The Jacksonville, Fla. native lived most of his life in Live Oak. He was an accountant and in his spare time enjoyed landscaping, exercising, bicycling and antiquing.

Survivors include three sisters, Glynda (Joe) Roberts, Wellborn, Fla.; Wyvonne Bruce, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Montez Wynn of Melrose, Fla.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at the graveside in the Live Oak Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8384 Baymeadows Rd., Suite 10, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Geraldine Parnell Voyles

Aug. 9, 1936 – Nov. 24, 2011

 

Geraldine Parnell Voyles, age 75, of Live Oak, Florida passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 24, 2011 at her son’s home following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Lake City, Fla. living most of her life in Live Oak. Geraldine worked for many years in home health care. When Geraldine was able she loved to work in her yard and garden. She also enjoyed gathering regularly for lunch with friends from high school and loved attending her class reunions.

She was predeceased by her husband James “Buddy” Voyles and her daughter, Linda Gail Carroll.

Survivors include one son Rusty (Brenda) Carroll, Live Oak, Fla.; two sisters, Eloise Gray and Glenda Musgrove both of Live Oak; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation was held, Sunday, Nov. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held, 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at the graveside in the Rocky Sink Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Tim Galloway officiating.

Cathy Lynn Parlin

Nov. 20, 2011

Cathy Lynn Parlin, of Jacksonville, passed away suddenly on Nov. 20, 2011 at the age of 54. She is preceded in death by her parents Leon and Edith Collins, her sister Gayle Murphy, and the father of her children Robert Steele. Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Richard Parlin of Jacksonville. She was a loving mother to her children, Laura Thompson (Foy) of Leander, Texas and Robert Steele Jr. of Jacksonville. Her joy in life was as MiMi to her 4 granddaughters Lily Thompson, Peyton Thompson, Edith Steele, and Sydney Steele. Cathy has wonderful siblings, Mary McClemons (Bill) of Etlan, Va., Diane Woodrum of Jacksonville, and Arnold Wayne Collins (Sharon) of Jacksonville.  She had numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members that she enjoyed spending time with. Cathy never met a stranger and had countless friends whom she loved. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 at Santa Fe Cemetery with Mr. Bob Fletcher officiating. Herman W. Carroll

Aug. 29, 1918 – Nov. 25, 2011

Herman W. Carroll, 93, of Live Oak, Fla., passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 in Tallahassee, Fla. after a long illness. Mr. Carroll was a native of Live Oak, Fla., a farmer, retired from the state road department after 20 years, member of Mason Lodge #43 Barrett, Live Oak, Fla. and of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two daughters: Cathy (John) Reed of Tallahassee, Fla.; Betty Lou (Ralph) Morton of Lake City, Fla. One sister: Adell Ross of Live Oak, Fla. Three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. Predeceased by grandson Aaoron Reed. Services for Mr. Carroll was held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at 3 p.m. in Daniels Memorial Chapel in Live Oak, Fla. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery.

Loyd E. Thomas

Nov. 23, 1920 – Nov. 28, 2011

Loyd E. Thomas passed away in the early afternoon hours on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at his family farm in Bell, Fla. He had just celebrated his 91st birthday. Born Loyd Eugene Thomas in Bell, Florida on Nov. 23, 1920, to the late L.R. and Ann Thomas, he is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Muriel Yarbrough Thomas. Also preceding him in death are his siblings Leilon Thomas of Bell and Velma T. cain of Branford. Loyd is survived by his bothers, Ray E. Thomas, Sr., also of Bell and Lewis Thomas of Perry. His sisters Loiselle Bailey and Yvonne Demember of Tallahassee, Wilma Hall and Iva Lou Fletcher, both of Branford as well as a host of nieces and nephews. As a young boy growing up in the early 1900s, Loyd left formal school at an early age to help his father and his brother work the family farm. Times were tough, and being the second of nine children his assistance was well received. As time passed, his country came calling and he served in the United States Army during World War II traveling to the South Pacific. His love of God and fellow man was very evident. He was one of the founding members at Riverside Baptist Church. For years he assisted the residents of Gilchrist County during the elections in his service as a Poll Worker. He was most content and happy atop one of his many machines as he worked pushing trees and clearing land. Work was something he embraced and he has helped instill it in his family. As his family mourns his passing, they are comforted in knowing he is at home with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Daniels Funeral Home in Branford, Fl from 5-7 p.m. A celebration of his life will be on Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 in the morning at Riverside Baptist Church located just off CR 138 in North Gilchrist County. The family will be receiving visitors at L.R. Thomas homestead, Bell, Florida.

Josephine Todd Kato

July 11, 1943 – Nov. 24, 2011

Josephine Todd Kato, age 68, of White Springs, Fla. passed away at her home Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. Josephine was born on July 11, 1943 to the late Robert and Alma Price Todd. She married Mr. Bill Kato and raised a fine family. She loved her immediate and extended family as deeply as was possible. Ms. Josephine was a faithful member of Jasper Assembly of God Church.  Josephine loved her church family and kept her community prayed up. Her faithfulness was unmatchable. It would be her wish that we would try to always put others first. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and prayer warrior.

Survivors include her husband, William  “Bill” Kato, White Springs; three sons, Billy Kato, Dallas, Ga., Robert Kato, Melbourne, Fla., and David Kato, Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Fay Price, Columbus, Ga. and Ellen Allen, Statenville, Ga.; two brothers, Robert Todd, Truckee, Calif.;  and Charlie Taylor, Lake City, Fla.; four sisters, Mary White, Ellabelle, Ga., Julie Mears, Lakeland, Fla., Freddie Ann Crews, Baxley, Ga., and Bernice Kipker, New Orleans, La.; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011  at the Jasper Assembly of God Church with Pastor Charles Helms officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.

Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
