VALDOSTA — Police made an arrest in a Saturday shooting where someone opened fire on a house.

Around 7:50 p.m., a resident in the 4200 block of Wilshire Drive called E911 to report someone had fired a gun at his home, a Valdosta Police Department report said. The caller said he heard gunshots and noticed a bullet had gone through his front door.

Surveillance videos showed a man walking past the home at the same time gunshots were heard. Officers found a suspect who resembled the man in the video, police said.

Officers spoke with a woman at the suspect’s home who said a firearm was missing from the house. Evidence was recovered connecting the gun she reported missing to the incident, according to the statement.

The suspect — identified as a 48-year-old Valdosta man — was charged with felony aggravated assault, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, misdemeanor discharging a firearm on or near a public street and misdemeanor criminal trespass. When officers tried to put him into a patrol car, he resisted, bringing a charge of misdemeanor obstruction of an officer, the police statement said.
