Rant & Rave – March 2, 2012

I’m all for Relay for Life here in Suwannee County. I have participated for years .How is it you want more supporters when you don’t even advertise the upcoming event or give names of the commitee members or phone numbers to contact? More publicity is definetly required to get the job done.

The job for a co. administrator should require a degree along with prior exp. in a similar position, & a favorable reference well removed from the local scene. Lacking that, an exec. with viable exp. in a succesful private sector operation. Approval should involve a non-partisan, volunteer reveiw panel of the citizens who are actually paying for this, clearly not “the pleasure” of the BOCC. THINK PEOPLE, we need to implement a charter in this county.

I just learned of the St. Johns District, the North Florida Aquifer Replenishment Initiative, http://northfloridawater.com/?utm_source=2012_February_22&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Water_News. That begs the question, “Where is the Suwannee River District’s Aquifer Replenishment Initiative – and implementation schedule?”

I may be confused, coulda sworn a certain commisioner said he wasn’t running again just a coupla mos. ago. Sadly, it seems untrue. Wonder why the weekly poll shows we don’t put much stock in their decisions, ( like in absolutely not). With such great results & progress, let’s put him back in office with 16% of the vote $130K of our money yet again as usual. Maybe he should do the right thing & step aside, ( like he said). Maybe term limits since they can’t control their own ego & greed. Maybe we’re as stupid as they think we are!

My wife and I went to local drivers license office for change of address. We were told we needed s/s#, two proofs of address and marriage license. We have never had anything other than a copy of our marriage license. This they would not accept. After two trips in the driving rain, now my wife can only break the law and drive on a license with wrong address. Although we are law abiding citizens.

To the ranter concerning speeders and law enforcement: Drivers on Highway 129 would be left in the dust if they should challenge those on West 180th St. (Luraville). Also, one deputy in Luraville is known to have actually exited his climate-controlled cruiser to confront a walker/jogger in his best S.W.A.T./Dog the Bounty Hunter imitation. Don Knotts would have been so proud. We miss you Barney.

The rant comparing the mayor’s office to rats leaving a sinking ship would be better suited to SRWMD. They have sat on their _ and shuffled paper while adjoining districts, Jacksonville Electric and bottling plants have plundered at will. If the resigning director joins his predecessor at the school system where S.A.T. scores and scholastic standings are dropping faster than the water table, Heaven help our children.
