Precious Ruby Crawford

Precious Ruby Crawford, a former resident of Live Oak, Fla., and a resident of Winter Haven, Fla., age 63, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven. 
She was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Thelma Smith. A graduate of Suwannee High School, a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Rev. Willie F. Lee, pastor. 
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Johnny Crawford, Haines City, Fla.; two loving daughters: Bonita Gilberry (Andre), Haines City, Fla., Kimberly Gilberry (Kennedy), Winter Haven, Fla.; one son, Alvin Dorsey (Donna), Aiken, S.C.; three step-children: Betina Crawford (Lamont), Eagle Lake, Fla., Steven Crawford (Evette) Harrisburg, Pa., Quincey Decousey, Waverly, Fla. Sisters May Bell Herring, Miami, Fla., Lucille (Chester, deceased) Jackson, Augusta, Ga., Fletcher Smith, Helen Smith, Cynthia Smith, Joanne (Clarence) Coleman, Geraldine (R.L. deceased) Smith, Marlene (Tyrone) Carter, Charles Howard: Elee (Heracio) Sanchez, Live Oak, Fla. Deceased sisters and brother. Irene Allen, Patricia Howard, Glenda, Terri Kersey, and Darrell Smith, sister-in-laws: Inez Harper, Sammie Mae Pritchett (Bennie), Haines City, Fla., Quincy Jackson, Haines City, Fla., two brother-in-laws, Oatis Crawford (Ruby) Alton, N.Y., James Crawford (Jeanette) Williamstown, N.J. Four aunts: Ruby Sims, Sarasota, Fla., Sallie Johnson, Live Oak, Fla., Annie Demps, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Early Mae Best, Miami, Fla. Six grandchildren, one great grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 
Funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at African Missionary Baptist Church, Live Oak, Fla., Rev. Alex Fountain, pastor, Rev. Willie F. Lee, Sr., officiating. The family will meet and greet friends Friday, Aug. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Rev. Willie F. Lee, pastor.

Byron G. Gilbert, 33, Lake City, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012. 
The West Palm Beach, Fla. native moved to Lake City eight years ago from Live Oak, Fla. He was a Veteran of OEF, OIF while serving in the Navy for four years, owned/operated Gilbert’s Lawn Service of Lake City for five years and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Lake City, Fl. 
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife of seven and a half years: Heather M. Gilbert, Lake City, Fla.; parents: Russell & Debbie Gilbert, Live Oak, Fla.; one daughter: Lindsey Gilbert, Lake City, Fla.; two sons: Wesley Darden, Lake City, Fla., Bradley Gilbert, Lake City, Fla.; one sister: Melissa Snipes, Live Oak, Fla.; one brother: Buddy Gilbert, Bradenton, Fla.; grandmother: Ruth Gilbert, Mayo, Fla.; aunt: Carol Stevens, Live Oak, Fla. and uncle: Terry Hurlburt, Zephyrhills, Fla. 
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at Philadelphia Baptist Church in McAlpin, Fla. with Rev. Josh Wynn officiating.

Tanner is survived by his parents: Brian & Crystal Bennett, Lake City, Fla.; sister: Kaydence Jean, Lake City, Fla.; brother: Trentyn Harry, Lake City, Fla.; maternal grandparents: Virginia Downs, Live Oak, Fla., Phil (Beverly) Gandiana, Live Oak, Fla.; paternal grandparents: Carol (Richard) Lawson, Mayo, Fla., Harold (Tony) Bennett, Lake City, Fla.; great-grandparents: Deloris Anderson, McAlpin, Fla. and Stella Bennett, Branford, Fla.

Arent Carlton Heil

May 17, 1923 – Aug. 6, 2012

Arent Carlton Heil of Dowling Park, Florida, formerly of Tallahassee, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012. He was born May 17, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 
He was a retired minister with the Presbyterian Church in America. Carlton was a World War II veteran, serving with the Army 15th Field Artillery Battalion and was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service. He was a past Commander of the former Post 250 of the American Legion of Tallahassee and a past President of Civitan Club of Tallahassee. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Kings College in New Castle, Delaware, and his Bachelor of Divinity degree from the Faith Theological Seminary in Wilmington, Delaware. He pastored the West Unity Church in Harrisville, Pennsylvania, and served on many church presbyteries. Most recently, he was the stated Clerk of the Southwest Florida Presbyterian Church of America. He was retired from the state of Florida, Department of Commerce. 
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Heil; three children, Janet (Kent) Thompson, David Heil and James (Kim) Heil; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Caroline Heil and Elaine Heil and brother Donald Heil. 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Community Presbyterian Church 830 Pinewood Street in Live Oak, Florida. Internment at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, will follow at a later date. Beggs Funeral Home is handling arrangements and can be contacted at 850-973-2258.
