Robbie “R.V.” Sutton

Robbie “R.V.” Sutton, 80, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at his home after a short illness.
He was born March 23, 1932 in Valdosta, a son of the late Albert and Missie Golden Sutton. After graduating from Valdosta High School he honorably served in the U.S. Navy. R.V. worked at Strickland Cotton Mill before his 31 year career with the U.S. Postal Service at the downtown Valdosta branch, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Mineola Church of God, and loved nature and sports.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, Shirley Sutton, he is survived by three children, Jerrell Henson and wife Susie of Lake Park, Cheryl Lockwood and husband Larry of Valdosta, and Richie Sutton and wife Roni of Montvale, Va.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Herring and husband John, Becky Lockwood, Larry Lockwood Jr. and wife Samantha, Lucas Sutton, Eric Sutton and Joshua Sutton; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Letha Cowart and husband Roy of Valdosta; two brothers, Rabon Sutton and wife Jean of Valdosta, and Bobby Sutton and wife Patsy of Gainesville, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Sutton; and one sister, Louise McCann.
Funeral Service for Mr. Sutton will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
