William Lon

Chaney Sr.

VALDOSTA — William Lon Chaney, Sr., 72, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at his residence.

Born on Feb. 11, 1932, in Valdosta, Mr. Chaney was the son of the late Elias and Mary Alberta Sims Chaney. He was a retired teacher from Valdosta Technical Institute and a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a member of the Azalea City Church of God, the Azalea Lodge No. 716, a Hasan Temple Albany Shriner and a member of Woodmen of the World.

Survivors are his wife, Maxine Joyce Chaney of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Lon, Jr. and Deon Chaney of Valdosta and John and Darlene Chaney of Crystal River, Fla; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Yolanda C. and Glenn Elkins, Renee C. and Ron Graham, all of Valdosta, and Delores Fieldhouse of Inglis, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ruth Duehring of Valdosta; brother and sister-in-law, James and Mary Anne Chaney of Valdosta; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Cassie Berry of Mt. Pleasant, Miss., and Carolyn and Lamar Upshaw of Gainesville, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Gabbard, Rev. Frank Gupton and Rev. Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, Ga., 31603. Martha Alice Kutzli

VALDOSTA — Martha Alice Kutzli, 83, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Born on Jan. 5, 1921, in Abbeville to the late James Madison and Naomi Evans Williford, Mrs. Kutzli retired from years of service at Pine Grove School. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law, Sena and Brinson Lane of Athens and Kathy and Daniel Jaimes of Maracay, Venezuela; a son, Jim Kutzli of Valdosta; nine grandchildren, Cherie Thompson, Ricky Lane, Karyn Weiffenbach, all of Athens, Danny Jaimes of Madenburg, Germany, Martica Jaimes of Valdosta, Kimberly Jaimes of Maracay, Venezuela, Sena Pike of Lakeland, and Jim Kutzli and Katie Kutzli, both of Lake Park; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Thelma Applegate of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, James Williford of Phoenix, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews, including Sylvia Hoffman of Alapaha.

Mrs. Kutzli was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kutzli; a grandson, Joseph Kutzli; a daughter-in-law, Eva Kutzli; a sister, Pauline Payne; and a brother, Leonard Williford.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hattie Mae Hampton

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Mae “Hat” Hampton will be held on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Barney with the Rev. Albert Barner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.



Evelyn Lindsey

Evelyn Lindsey, 87, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at her home. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Dr. Henry Cannington will officiate.
