VSU women’s tennis heading to South Regional Tournament

- Michelle Fischer and the Valdosta State women’s tennis team were selected to the South Region Tournament on Tuesday.
The Valdosta State women’s tennis team will face West Florida in the first round of the 2013 South Region Tournament, as announced by the NCAA.
The Lady Blazers, who sport a 11-7 record on the season, will make their 13th appearance in NCAA postseason play and enter the match against West Florida as the number six seed.
The Argonauts, who are 14-6 on the year, enter the tournament as the Gulf South Conference champions and the number three seed.
Barry (24-0) and Saint Leo (17-5) earned hosting bids as the number one and two seeds in the South Region, respectively. VSU and UWF will travel to Saint Leo, Fla. and face off on Monday, April 29, at 12:30 p.m.
The remainder of the field includes seventh ranked Florida Southern (15-6), who will square off against Saint Leo at 9 a.m. on Monday. Number four Rollins (13-5), fifth ranked Lynn (13-4), and number eight Stillman (30-1), round out the South Region field and will all travel to Barry in Miami Shores, Fla. to begin competition on Saturday.
