The official dates for Valdosta State’s spring football practices were released Thursday. Contrary to what was first reported, the Blazers will actually hold a spring game. That will come March 9 at 11 a.m. at either Bazemore-Hyder Stadium or the VSU Athletic Fieldhouse practice fields.
It was first believed the Blazers would not hold a spring practice game due to lack of depth on the offensive line and linebacking corps.
Prior to the spring game, the Blazers will practice 13 times, including four in full pads. VSU opens spring practice Friday at 3 p.m., with a practice in helmets.
The Blazers’ spring drills will be halted one day, Feb. 27, for when the team travels to Atlanta, where they will be honored for their national championship last season. The 2012 softball national championship team will join the Blazer football team at the state Capitol and will be honored for its championship last May.
