Stephen Michael Dykes

HOMERVILLE — Stephen Michael Dykes, 23, passed away Saturday afternoon following an accident. A native of Bibb County, he had lived in Clinch County most of his life. He was employed by Baldree Landscaping. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, C. H. Swearingen. Survivors are his mother and step-father, Joy Sweringen Finch and Barney Finch Jr. of Homerville; his father, Carl Waymond Dykes Jr. of Macon; one step-sister and step-brother-in-law, Felicia and Johnnie Ray Thomas of Homerville; two step-brothers and a step-sister-in-law, Cassidy and Melissa Finch of Douglas, and Blake Finch of Homerville; maternal grandmother, Clara Taft of Lakeland; paternal grandparents, Barney and Juanita Finch of Homerville; six uncles, Lonnie Swearingen of Homerville, Jerry Swearingen of Clyatteville, Preston Swearingen of Jacksonville, Jimmy Swearingen of Texas, Andy Swearingen of Lakeland and Raymond Swearingen of Valdosta; paternal uncle and aunt, Carlton and Patricia Allen of Macon, and several other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Dykes will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lakeland Church of God. Burial will follow in the Ramah Cemetery near Homerville. Mr. Dykes will remain at the funeral home until time for the services. Rena Mae Myddleton

VALDOSTA — Rena Mae Myddelton, 67, of Valdosta, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in Lowndes County on Dec. 21, 1933 to the late Guilford Troy Register Sr. and Vera Clyde Stallings Register. Mrs. Myddelton was a retired customer service representative from Albany Power and Light, has attended First Presbyterian Church since 1997 and was a member of the DAR, UDC and Wymodausis. She is survived by one sister, Aristeene Kelly of Valdosta, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ashley and Martha Register of Donalsonville, and Ray and Brenda Register of Ray City, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Stanley officiating. Interment will be in her mausoleum at Cat Creek Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Break Bread Program at First Presbyterian Church. Allen W. Broadaway

ADEL — Allen W. Broadaway, 72, of Adel, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 at Memorial Hospital of Adel after a short illness. He was born Feb. 26, 1929 in Pine View, Ga. to the late Isom Greene Broadaway and Bessie Viola Blalock Broadaway and had lived in Adel the past 11 years. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from the U.S. Air Force and General Electric. He is survived by his wife, Lounelle George Broadaway of Adel, two daughters, Sharon Carter of Adel and Sonia Bianchi of Palmetto, Fla., a brother, Wedrel Broadaway of Pine View, Ga., two sisters Sue Lee of Rochelle, Ga. and Myrna Moore of Centerville, Ga., six grandchildren, Lisa Searcy, Kimberly Bianchi, Kelly Bianchi, Matthew William Carter, Kristy Bianchi and Lawrence Allen “B.J.” Bianchi, and two great grandsons, Hayden and Dawson Searcy. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery Annex with full military honors. The Reverends Robert Lawrence and Elbert Cox will be officiating. Lessie Mae Gandy

ADEL — Lessie Mae Gandy, 85, of Adel, died Sunday, Oct 28, 2001 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. She was born Sept. 1, 1916 in Berrien County to the late Eddie Eldon Browning and Nancy Evelyn Edwards Browning and lived most of her life in Cook County. She was a homema





ker and a member of Spring Head Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Louise Chance of Adel and a daughter-in-law, Nora Gandy of Adel, a brother Jay Browning of Adel, two sisters, Ina Morey of Adel and Mae Tomlinson of Sparks, and 17 grandchildren, Don Gandy, Brenda Plymel, Johnny Gandy, Robert Gandy, Gail Grimes, Dillard Gandy, R. J. Gandy, Jana Gandy, Joseph Fulghum, Jamie Gandy, Matthew Grimes, Toby Gandy, Trey Gandy, Laura Wilkerson, Shannon Wilkerson and Saige Gandy. She was preceded in death by her husband R. J. Gandy, and a son, James Gandy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spring Head Baptist Church with burial to follow at Antioch Church Cemetery. Kim Marie Pierce

JENNINGS — Kim Marie Pierce was born May 6, 1972 in Galveston, Texas. She was the proud daughter of Mrs. Virgie Leday Matthews and Mr. Warren Payton Sr. She graduated in 1990 from Central High School in Beaumont, Texas. She was a member of the band and played the clarinet. In 1991, Kim married Santos A. Pierce Sr. of Jennings, Fla. To this union was born the apple of their eyes, Santos A. Pierce Jr. Kim was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Kim accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of her life in 1996. Throughout her illness she was strong in her faith and never once complained. She loved her family dearly and was genuinely concerned about others. Kim departed this life on Oct. 26, 2001 at her home in Jennings. She leaves to cherish wonderful memories her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Santos A. Pierce Sr. of Jennings, her son and the joy of her life, Santos A. Pierce Jr., her mother, Mrs. Virgie Leday Hampton and father Mr. Warren Payton Sr., both of Beaumont, Texas, her biological father, Mr. Kenneth Matthews of Houston, her father and mother-in-law, Mr. Clifford and Mrs. Luella Pierce of Jennings, two sisters, Ms. Theresa Matthews and Ms. Jessica Payton of Beaumont, one brother, Mr. Warren Payton Jr. of Beaumont, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. Clifford and Mrs. Shirley Pierce of Jennings and Pastors Steven and Maggie Pierce of Chesapeake, Va., six nieces, Tammy of Jennings, Dominique, Da’Zha, Da’Monni and Meosha, all of Beaumont, and Abi of Chesapeake, two nephews, Matthew and Luke, both of Chesapeake, a dear friend, Mrs. Marquette James of Dallas, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church on Berry Street in Jennings. The Reverend Nathaniel Williams is the pastor and the Reverend Steven Pierce will officiate. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery in Lake Park. Heather McMillan

Heather McMillan, 18, of San Diego, Calif., died Saturday. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville.
