Deacon Louis Jones

Deacon Louis Jones was born November 23, 1930 in Lowndes County, Ga., to the late Deacon Charlie and Mother Rosie Jones. He accepted God at an early age, was a faithful member of Mt. Avery Holiness Church, later joined Prayer Temple Holiness Church, serving faithfully until his demise.

Deacon Jones was educated in the Lowndes County school system and is a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army for three years. Upon his return, he married Miss Fannie B. White, and they were blessed with 4 children and 2 adopted children. He is retired from Martin Theatre and Griffin Corporation.

Deacon Jones passed through the heavenly gates on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his only son Carlton Louis Jones; sisters, Viola Butler, Stella Sermons, Eliza Tipton, Charlie Mae Green, Gertrude Lane, Agnes Searcy, Gladys Wells, and Audery Jones; brothers, Henry, Horace, Homer, Izell, and Eddie Jones; and a devoted brother-in-law, Bishop Willie Lee Green.

Deacon Jones will forever be loved and remembered by those left to cherish his memories: his devoted and faithful wife of 60 years Mother Fannie B. Jones; sister Iona Wright; daughters, Phyllis Laurry (Melit) and Cynthia Walker of Valdosta, Olivia Lynn Jones of Tifton, Ga., Sabrina Morice of Palm Bay, FL, and Valeria Frink of Marietta, Ga.; brother-in-law Bishop Clarence Wells (Marian) of Valdosta; sister-in-laws, Mary Kelsey of Valdosta, and Nellie Ruth White of Tallahassee, FL; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; devoted friends Larry Williams and Charles Knight; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The House Of God Church, 606 W. Adair St, Valdosta; Elder Willie McCoy is the Pastor, Bishop Clarence Wells will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pallbearer Cemetery. — Scott and Roberts Mortuary.
