Rants & Raves

I agree with ranters about the Eager Road patch. It is bumpier now than it was before patching!
My pay only goes up about 1 to 2 percent a year. Now the government is raising gas tax, water rates, property taxes and other surprises that will occur July 1 and Oct. 1. Some solutions are to raise minimum wage but it will be taken by taxes and higher food prices.
This is about the ranter on redirecting Ashley and Patterson Street traffic. I have seen too many near misses (hits) on these streets due to people having to wait numerous light changes in order to make a left turn and just gunning it.
Why are middle and high school coaches as well as volunteer coaches still allowed to use spit tobacco products during practice and games when tobacco is prohibited from campuses. Also in light of the death of Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn due to cancer caused by his use of tobacco, this is a bad example for the players. If a student was caught with the tobacco, they would be subject to school discipline. Can we say double standard?
Saying all pit bulls should be put down is ignorance at its finest. As with every animal what matters is the environment the dog is brought up in.
The man coming out of the store beside me this morning obviously assumed I too blame everything on President Obama! His doctor called his prescription to the wrong pharmacy … not sure at all how this was our President’s fault. For those of us who could not purchase insurance at any cost due to pre-existing conditions, we are grateful the health-care law is in effect.
This question was asked in the rant/rave: With so many pools of dangerous mosquitoes in Valdosta, why is the overgrown ditch and canal on Lakeland Avenue being ignored? My answer would have to be, darn if I know. If I did know, you didn’t leave a phone number where I could call you back. Why don’t you call the ditch and canal people on the phone and ask them?
It does not seem ignorant to assume that pit bulls are dangerous when nearly every report of dog attacks involves them.
The same liberal media which is suppressing the reports of firearms being used to protect the rights of citizens as well as their property is the same liberal media who are lying to us about the record heat waves and other weather-related fabricated stories about Al Gore’s climate change myth.
