Kenneth Webb Cooper

HAHIRA — Kenneth Webb Cooper, 50, of Hahira, died on Saturday, May 15, 2004. Born in Brooks County, on Aug. 19, 1953, Mr. Cooper was a lifelong resident of Brooks and Lowndes Counties. He was a member of Morven Baptist Church. A former high school football coach and teacher, he loved to referee in various sporting events. Much of his career had been spent in Law Enforcement and Rehabilitation.

Survivors are his wife, Beth Cooper; two sons, Ryan Cooper and Kaleb Cooper all of Hahira; his parents, Harold and Faustina Cooper of Morven; brother and sister-in-law, Hal and Edna Cooper; nephew, John Cooper, all of Hahira; two nieces, Dusty Harper of Hahira and Jennifer Hartley of Douglas.

Funeral services for Kenneth Webb Cooper will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Joey Cason and Charles Vinson officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery in Morven. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m.– Carson McLane Funeral Home



Gladys Futch

NASHVILLE — Gladys Futch, 93, of Nashville passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Berrien County Hospital.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1910, in Jackson County to Weymon Pierce and Flora Wheeler Nicholson. She was a homemaker and attended the Nashville Mission. She was the widow of T.J. Futch who died in 1989.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel (Bill) Stripling, Hahira, Geneva (Scotty) Bailey, Richwood, W.Va., Anelda (Alan) Guest, Douglasville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Weymon Thomas (Mary) Futch, Pineville, La., T.J. (Sarah) Futch, Jr., Nashville, Kenneth (Linda) Futch, Fitzgerald, Robert Edward (Linda) Futch, Ruby, La.; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Blanche Rice, Nashville, Lois Barker, Trinity, N.C. She is also preceded in death by two children, Grace and Clinton Futch; step mother, Eunice Nicholson, four brothers, Pierce, Lenton Clinton and Jack Nicholson; three sisters, Grace Nicholson, Exie Miller and Frances Futch.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Luke, the Rev. Wayne Taylor and the Rev. Danny Garrett officiating. Burial will be held in New Ramah Cemetery. Ruth Randolph Walker

VALDOSTA — Ruth Randolph Walker, 81, of Valdosta died May 13, 2004, at Center Park Healthcare and Rehab. In Brandon, Fla.

The graveside service will be Wednesday, May 19, 2004, 2 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. John O’Brien will be officiating. A memorial service will be Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern with the Rev. Trent Walker officiating.

A native of Americus, Mrs. Walker lived in Albany 40 years where she was a member of First United Methodist Church, the DAR and was retired from Georgia State and Dougherty County Health Departments after 21 years of service. She was also a resident of Grand Rapids, Mich., for 12 years. Mrs. Walker had lived in Valdosta since 1996, and was a member of St. John Evangelist Church until her most recent move to Lithia, Fla., with her son.

Survivors include her son, Alex Walker and his wife Donna of Lithia, Fla., five grandchildren, Fred Walker, Trent Walker, Troy Walker, Heath Walker and Alice Walker, two step-grandchildren, Kathleen Brown and Thomas Brown and eight great- grand children.

The family will receive friends following the services.

Dr. Samuel J. Jackson, 71, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman.

Kasey Elyse McCranie, a student, 17, of Perry, Fla., formerly of Valdosta, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Crosspoint Baptist Church with Brother Eddie Pridgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. this evening at Burns Memorial Chapel.
