The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, at the old Hamilton County High School and Central Elementary School in Jasper. The Hamilton County High School Senior Beta Club will honor cancer survivors with a reception at CHE at 6 p.m.
The success of the Relay depends on community involvement. Everyone is encouraged to participate either as a survivor, a team member, a volunteer or a sponsor.
The following sponsors issue a challenge to the community to provide support for the Relay: Baya Pharmacy, PCS Phosphate, Jasper Woman’s Club, and Ida and Danny Daniels.
Several teams have already registered to participate in the Relay: Central Hamilton Elementary, North Hamilton Elementary, South Hamilton Elementary, Hamilton County High School, Hamilton County School Board, Suwannee Valley Nursing Center, Trinity Hospital, Council On Aging, Bank Of America, Hamilton County Correctional Institution, PCS Phosphate, and Dr. Ben Norris’ office.
The ACS is a community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. They sponsor the Relay for Life to raise community awareness about symptoms and treatments of cancer. The High Five Unit of the ACS includes Hamilton, Columbia, Suwannee, Bradford and Union Counties.
The next meeting to discuss the Relay is 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 4, at the Jasper Woman’s Club.
