Live Oak Police Chief Buddy Williams gave few details into the discovery of a young male body this morning during a brief, 5 p.m. press conference at Live Oak Police Department.

Williams told reporters prior to the conference that he was still not yet prepared to go into more detail or confirm whether the body was that of Leo Walker, 9, who went missing from his home on East Duval Street around 4 a.m. Wednesday. The body was discovered in a nearby pond around 10 a.m. Friday morning, close to the Walker residence. Williams said, however, the pond is not the one that was being drained Thursday.

Williams said he would not say who found the body of the young child, as he referred to it, nor would he comment on whether there were signs of foul play. Williams said an autopsy will be conducted in Tallahassee soon to determine the cause of death.

The investigation, Williams said, is still very much active and until positive confirmation is made of the body, search efforts will continue into the disappearance of Walker. He did say, though, that they are not asking the community to continue searching.

Future press conferences were not scheduled. We will bring you more details as we get them.
