Steven Driscoll

HOMERVILLE — Steven Driscoll, 35, passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

A native of St. Lucy, Fla., he had lived in Waycross for the past several years. He was working as assistant manager of the Friendly Express Store in Blackshear. He is the son of Jackie Walker of Homerville and the late Ira Melvin Westberry.

Survivors other than his mother are four sisters, Cathy Spradley, Sherrie Thompson, Lorrie Stalvey, and Lisa Westberry, all of Homerville; a close friend, Jamie Hagen of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Driscoll will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the Argyle Church of God.

Interment will be in the North Cemetery near DuPont, Ga.

Mr. Driscoll will be carried to the home of his sister, Cathy Spradley, at 103 Grant Road in Travisville at 4 p.m. Saturday. — Roundtree Funeral Home of Homerville



Barbara Fosgate Foy

DUBLIN — Services for Barbara Fosgate Foy, 75, Dublin, are at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Pine Forest United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Joel Dent will officiate.

Mrs. Foy died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003.

Mrs. Foy was a native of Coral Gables, Fla. She was the daughter of the late Stanley Perkins Fosgate and the late Miriam Deloria Fosgate of Coral Gables, Fla. Mrs. Foy graduated from Coral Gables Ponce DeLeon High School in 1946. She attended Florida State University, where she graduated in 1950 with a B.S. degree in early childhood education and was a member of Social Sorority of Kappa Alpha Theta. She was owner of a private nursery and kindergarten for 15 years in Quitman, Ga. She was an owner and camp director of Camp Jocassee for Girls near Seneca, S.C., for 15 years. She taught first grade at Hillcrest Elementary in Dublin from 1972 until 1986. She was a resident of Dublin for many years and a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Walter L. Foy of Dublin, Ga.; a daughter, Brenda Springfield of Gainesville, Fla.; sons, Bill Foy of Princeton, N.J., and Dan Foy of Perry, Ga.; a daughter, Mim Rice of Ray City, Ga.; a sister, Beatrice Vogt of Cooper City, Fla.; grandchildren, Walter L. Foy, J.T. Springfield, Chase Foy, Tyler Foy, Maura Foy, Mallory Foy and Hunter Rice; great-grandchildren, Will Foy and Emilee Foy; and several nephews.

Pallbearers are Alan Yauck, Jim Richardson, Tom Stewart, Billy Meeks, Travis Davis and Bob Tarpley.

Ronald Leroy Jennings

RAY CITY — Ronald Leroy Jennings, 68, of Ray City died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Ga. Born in St. Joseph, Mo., he was formerly of Savannah before moving to Lowndes County 10 years ago. Mr. Jennings was retired from Gulf Stream Aerospace and was a retired petty officer first class, having served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years and having served during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Suzanne Jennings and Scott Hughes of Ray City, Ga.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Pat Jennings of Washington, D.C., Joseph Curtis Norman of Nashville, Ga., David Howard and Jessyca Jennings of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, Marcela Norman of Sacramento, Scotty Hughes of Valdosta, Timothy Cole Hughes of Valdosta and Isabela Norman of Sacramento.

The family will receive friends from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Jennings will be cremated. — Carson McLane Funeral Home



M.L. Ross

LENOX — M.L. Ross, 82, of Lenox passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Tift Healthcare in Tifton. He was born Jan. 12, 1921, to the late James William Johnson and Icer Elizabeth Sumner Ross. Mr. Ross was a member of Lenox Baptist Church and was owner and president of Ross Electric Inc. He was a World War II Navy veteran and an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Ross of 58 years from Lenox; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Paula Ross of Lake Park and Kevin and Bonnie Ross of Valdosta; one brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Nell Ross of Bristol, Fla.; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Howard Meyer of Conyers, Ga.; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are two sisters, Beatrice Ross and Mary L. Ross Ethridge; and two brothers, Harvey Ross and Wilburn Ross.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Lenox Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in Lenox City Cemetery. The Rev. Lamar Harris and the Rev. D.E. Beasley will officiate. Dorris Marie Johnson Stovall

VALDOSTA — Dorris Marie Johnson Stovall, 72, of Valdosta, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Stovall was born in Lowndes County, Ga., on Sept. 6, 1931, to the late Richard Seward and Dorris Dasher Johnson. She was a school teacher, having taught in Adel, Tifton and the Valdosta City School System. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union, the Retired Teachers Association and was a state winner of the Seamstress Award with the 4-H Club.

She is survived by her husband, Shelby Thomas (S.T.) Stovall; three daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and George Clary of Lilburn, Ga., Cynthia and Mike Hammock of Snellville, Ga., Karen and Joe Wood of Valdosta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Virginia Clay and Caroline Clary. Mrs. Stovall was preceded in death by two sons.

Funeral services will be in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, with the Rev. Tom Daniel officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home

George W. Allen, 61, of Lake Park died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Opal Joiner Bennett

Opal Joiner Bennett, 72, of Adel passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie after a lengthy illness. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Purvis Funeral Home in Adel. Interment will follow in Antioch Church Cemetery in Adel. The Rev. James Rice and the Rev. William Earl Chalker

William Earl Chalker, 86, of Jasper, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Harry T. Eloise Kelley

Eloise Kelley of Quitman, Ga., passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Brooks County Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later by the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman.



Mamie Maude Bennett Smith

Mamie Maude Bennett Smith, 76, of Adel passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Funeral service will be held today, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at Purvis Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn City Cemetery. The Rev. Roscoe Bennett, the Rev. Lamar Bennett and the Rev.
