On Thursday, April 1, Suwannee County Sheriff’s Corporal Scott Senea arrested Jeffrey Allen Boyd, 37, 208 Lafayette Street, Branford. Boyd was charged with aggravated battery (domestic violence) and resisting an officer with violence, according to a report issued by the Suwannee County Sheriff’s office.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. Corporal Senea and Deputy Lee Willis were dispatched to a Branford residence to investigate a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival at the residence they observed a woman sitting in her living room. She was screaming and holding the top of her head. Allegedly Boyd had struck her four times on the top of her head with a heavy glass vase. When Boyd was ordered to place his hands behind his back he picked up a beer bottle and attempted to hit the deputies with it. He was subdued by use of the electronic Taser Gun which was deployed by Deputy Willis.
Boyd was arrested and transported to the Suwannee County jail. His bond has been set at $10,000. Boyd was previously arrested on Monday, March 29 by Suwannee County Deputy Bobby Akey and charged with aggravated battery with a knife.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Deputy Akey was dispatched to Hardee’s Restaurant in Branford to investigate a fight in the parking lot. By the time he got there the fight was over and Boyd had left the scene. Mark Hopkins and Bo Warren told the officer that Boyd had attacked Warren with a knife and during a struggle to take it away from him one of them was cut in the face by the knife. Boyd managed to get away from them and leave.
Boyd was located and arrested. After he was transported to the Suwannee County jail his bond was set at $5,000. He was later released after obtaining a surety bond through Coker Bonding Agency.
Boyd remains incarcerated on the second charge, according to Major Les Hall with the sherriff’s office.
