Students escape harm in school bus crash

A Suwannee County school bus and a Chevrolet Malibu collided Friday afternoon on 98th Terrace, just west of CR 136, the Florida Highway Patrol reports. None of the students on the school bus were injured, the FHP reports.
Around 3:30 p.m., a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2010 school bus met in a curve on 98th Terrace at the same time and were both traveling left of the center of the roadway. The front of the Malibu, driven by Michael Wayne Heaton, 18, Live Oak, with passengers Karlie Stoe, 19, and Jeffrey Barnes, age unknown, Live Oak, struck the left front of the bus, driven by Gerald Lewis Guy, 65, Live Oak. The collision caused both vehicles to come to a final rest in the roadway.

FHP reports there were 17 students on the bus at the time of the crash and none of them reported any injuries.
Heaton and Guy both received minor injuries and were both treated at Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center.
FHP reports Heaton, Stoe and Barnes were not wearing seatbelts.
Heaton was charged with no driver’s license and driving left of center. Guy was charged with driving left of center and Stoe was charged with allowing an unauthorized person to drive.
