A day of harvesting mushrooms (psilocybin) for profit was foiled by Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) when Deputy Travis Boatright and Deputy Gerald Powers responded to a call reporting a suspicious vehicle at the Ace Ranch property on CR 354 in Lafayette County on Saturday, April 30 about 8:45 a.m.

Boatright said the six suspects took to the woods as they realized they were caught smack dab in an illegal drug deal.

Boatright arrested one on the spot and the MCI K-9 Team was called to track the fleeing suspects who were quickly gathered from their hiding places and put under arrest by Boatright.

Boatright said one of the juveniles arrested had been arrested less than a month ago in Mayo in the burglary of Silver Dollar Lounge.

Now that juvenile and three other juveniles, as well as two adults, Ronald Beasley, 19, 603 Paradise Court, Atlantic Beach and Leslie Vincent, 28, 1636 Coconut Road, Jacksonville face charges of possession of psilocybin/conspiracy to possess psilocybin/trespass. Beasley was also charged with possession of cannabis less than 20 grams.

LCSO advises to learn more about the harmful use of mushrooms (psilocybin) you can log on to the internet and type in psilocybin.
