Lady Dogs take tough Branford team in four matches

It took a while for the Lady Dogs volleyball team to get warmed up and down to business against a very tough Branford team with some outstanding servers. But after losing the first match of this four match game 9-25, the Lady Dogs got down to business and won the next three 25-18, 25-18 and 25-21.
The leading scorer against Branford was Kyla Serrona with 14 service points. Serrona got off to a slow start, but the Branford girls found her tough to return off in the last three matches. Heather Benson also got off to a slow start but ended the game with an amazing 23 assists. Marcella Walker sat out the first game. Her presence in the last three clinched the wins for the Lady Dogs. Walker had 13 kills for Suwannee. Sharon Jelks also had good luck serving against Branford with 11 service points.
Team stats
Kyla Serrona had 14 service points, one kill, one ace and five assists.
Sharon Jelks had 11 service points, six kills, two aces, seven assists and two dinks.
Marcella Walker had two service points, 13 kills, one assist and one dink.
Heather Benson had seven service points, four aces, 23 assists and one dink.
Kortney Cherry had six service points, five kills and one dink.
Heather LeBlanc had four service points, one ace, four assists, one block and one dink.
The Lady Dogs roll over the 500 mark with this win over Branford. Their record is now 7-6 for the season.
The JV Lady Dogs also defeated the JV Branford team in two games 25-7 and 28-26.
