Suspects charged in deli robbery

VALDOSTA — A Valdosta State University police officer on routine patrol spotted an armed robbery suspect Thursday night, leading to the arrest of two people in connection with the armed robbery at Micheal’s Deli only minutes before.

Cornelius Howell, 19, Cat Creek Road, and Anthony Howell, 17, East Ann Street, are being held on charges of armed robbery in connection with the incident.

Lt. Brian Childress, public information officer for the Valdosta Police Department, said the robbery occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. at the restaurant at 1307 N. Ashley Street as employees were closing the store.
