MOODY AIR FORCE BASE — After several years of planning, Georgia Department of Public Health, in conjunction with Moody Air Force Base, is opening a Women-Infant-Children clinic on base.

The clinic offers nutritional information and postpartum services for mothers, infants and children up to 5 years old.

“We really work to make sure that our mothers are learning to provide good nutrition education through a child’s life,” said WIC Nutritional Services Director Holly Rountree.

The clinic opens next week, May 28. It will be open Thursdays only, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The clinic plans to open more days upon establishing the necessary clientele base.

GDPH wanted to combat the issue of distance.

“We wanted to make it more convenient for the Moody community so they don’t have to come all the way down to the Lowndes department,” said Public Health Public Information Officer Courtney Sheeley.

The clinic is positioned between the women’s health and pediatrics centers in Moody AFB’s medical complex.
