Lady Dogs take East Gadsden in four games

Suwannee’s volleyball Lady Dogs put one more in the win column Tuesday, Sept. 14 when they defeated East Gadsden. East Gadsden has a lot of very competitive athletes on the volleyball team recruited from their state-runner-up basketball team. The girls from East Gadsden played hard but Suwannee prevailed, winning three out of four games to take the match. This puts the Lady Dogs at 4-2 for the season, with Florida High being the roughest competition they’ve faced and their only two losses.



Kyla Serrano’s serve destroyed the East Gadsden team. Serrano had 25 service points with 13 aces. Serrona also had two kills and five assists.

Heather Benson had a great game against East Gadsden. Benson is Suwannee’s super-setter. Benson had 18 assists, nine service points with three aces.

Lead spikers for the Lady Dogs were Alex Camunas with four kills and Merlonda Owens with four kills. Camunas also had seven service points, two of them aces and three assists. Owens had eight service points and two assists.



Ashley Rose, Suwannee’s tall, up-front player, had three kills, five service points, two of them aces and five assists.



Stephanee Skipper had two kills, five service points, three of them aces and three assists.



Danielle Smith, new this year, had two kills, three service points, one an ace, and two assists.



Lacy Smith had one kills and five service points.

Tracy Landon had one kill.



Suwannee took the match 25-4 in the first game, 25-15 in the second. The Lady Dogs lost the third game 22-25 and won the fourth game 25-13.



The Lady Dogs play again at home on Thursday against Wakulla. The JV take the court at 4 p.m. with the varsity girls playing a double header starting at 5 p.m. Come out and cheer for Suwannee’s volleyball Lady Dogs. Go Lady Dogs!
