Boys and Girls Club students shop at Academy Sports

VALDOSTA—The Boys and Girls Club of Valdosta treated its students to a shopping spree at Academy Sports, courtesy of the Valdosta Junior Service League Thursday.
The VJSL, that celebrates its 80th anniversary next year, earmarks money to donate to community organizations, according to Terri Ball, service enrichment coordinator.

The Valdosta Junior Service League goes beyond monetary donations, however, and adds a hands-on service component.
Members of the VJSL chaperoned a group of about 3-4 students each, walking around the store to determine what items the kids could get, from shoes to fishing poles to backpacks.
Academy Sports partners with the BGC and hosts similar events, according to Dan Lashbrook, manager at Academy Sports.
