- Cooking with the Pink Ladies
The Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary is excited to announce the release of their cookbook, “Cooking with the Pink Ladies”. Proceeds from the sale of this book will go toward student nursing scholarships. The all-volunteer group of ladies hopes to raise $2,000 that will provide four scholarships to students from RiverOak Technical College. Every year the scholarships are awarded to deserving nursing students, selected by their teachers and peers.
Recipes for “Cooking with the Pink Ladies” came from the Pink Ladies themselves. These volunteers work to help support and fund various needs within Shands Live Oak hospital through their gift shop and a variety of fundraising projects. A highlight of the year is when they host the annual Christmas Tea for the staff and employees of Shands Live Oak providing an assortment of homemade treats like Martha Washington Balls, found on page 115 and below.
The book contains categories from appetizers to desserts and everything in between within the pages. A special bonus is a section dedicated to diabetic recipes and one of the tasty Christmas Tea recipes. This collection would make a great addition to any cooks kitchen and is an excellent holiday gift idea!
When the chairperson of the project, Cheryle Chandler, was asked about putting the cookbook together, she said, “We are very pleased with our finished cookbook and hope that our recipes will find a home in many kitchens throughout Suwannee County.” To purchase a copy of “Cooking with the Pink Ladies”, stop by the gift shop in the lobby of the hospital. You can reach them by phone at (386) 362-0800 ext. 20535 or if you know an auxiliary member, they can assist you with a book purchase.
