Barbara T. Bradford

VALDOSTA — Barbara T. Bradford, 66, of Valdosta died on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005.

Born in Savannah, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Roberts Templeton. Mrs. Bradford was a substitute teacher for the Lowndes County School System and was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters and one son-in-law, Dale Culverhouse and Susie Bradford, both of Valdosta, and Vicki and Danny McLeod of Dasher; one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Stephanie Bradford of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ashley Culverhouse, Madison McLeod, Josh McLeod and Leavy Bradford. Mrs. Bradford was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bradford; and a son, Paul Bradford.

Funeral services for Barbara T. Bradford will be held on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. James Chester Conine

LAKELAND — James Chester Conine, 82, of Lakeland passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lanier County to the late James D. and Minnie E. Conine on Dec. 22, 1922. Mr. Conine was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Lakeland. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as Lakeland’s first city carrier for the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 30 years before his retirement. Upon his retirement, he was serving as postmaster. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ruth N. Conine; sister, Jennie Conine; and two brothers, Wilbert Conine and Glynn Conine.

Survivors include a daughter, Genese Bryant, Lakeland; son and daughter-in-law, David and Faye Conine, Athens; grandchildren, Amanda Giddens, Christa and Sam Shaw, and Lydia Giddens; great-granddaughters, Summer Bradford and Jenna Shaw; two sisters, Martha Nell Thomas, Atlanta, Mary Waters, Jesup; sister-in-law, Geneva Conine, Lakeland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gus and Susie Wilcox, Lakeland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Lakeland with burial following in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Conine will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. James E. Mills

PIEDMONT, S.C. — James E. Mills, 37, of Piedmont, S.C., passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Valdosta to James Emory Mills Jr. and Louise Sirmans Sanders, both of Valdosta. He was employed by Robert Bosch Corp. in Anderson S.C.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Dienes Mills; son, James Aaron Mills; daughter, Carlie Alexandra Mills, all from Piedmont, S.C.; and his parents.

Family will receive friends and family from 6-8 p.m. this evening at Music Funeral Services in Lakeland. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday Feb. 6, 2005, in the chapel of Music Funeral Services. Kenneth Earl Raney

VALDOSTA — Pastor Kenneth Earl Raney, 78, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at his residence. Born on May 7, 1926, in Decker, Ind., he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Okah L. Pittman Raney. He was the pastor of the Jesus Name Apostolic Church, Valdosta, for the past 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nedra Wilson Raney of 19 years; two sons, Larry Raney and Danny Wayne Raney; a daughter, Linda Pace; one granddaughter, Natasha Raney; and a brother, Edwin Raney.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Myrna Smith Raney; two daughters, Sherry (Bob) Lietha, Valdosta, Lana (Marcus) Holt, Hahira; four sons, Stephen Raney, Valdosta, Russell (Andra) Raney, Columbus, Ind., Randy (JoDeana) Raney, Linton, Ind., Joseph (Lisa) Raney, Port Orchard, Wash.; a brother, Robert (Wilma) Raney, Vincennes, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters.

Pastor Raney will lie in state at the Jesus Name Apostolic Church, 3855 Old Hwy. 41 N., Valdosta, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at the church with Elder James Gowan and Pastor Don Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Anna Mae Burney Weathers

VALDOSTA — Anna Mae Burney Weathers, 90, of Valdosta died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Valdosta after a lengthy illness. She was born on Dec. 18, 1914, in the Dinsmore Community of Jacksonville to the late Marcus T. and Lena Higginbotham Burney. Mrs. Weathers was a member of the Dinsmore Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Edgebert and Debby Weathers of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Thibodeau of Valdosta, Richard Weathers of Altaboro, Mass., Rhonda Caldwell of Niles, Ohio, Jamey Thibodeau of Greece and Troy Weathers of Adel; three great-grandchildren, Madison Weathers of Adel, Abigail Thibodeau of Valdosta, Haley Thibodeau of Presque Isle, Maine; numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Connie Hammond of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kitty Cox of Tallahassee, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson Weathers; one brother; and several sisters.
