History lost, but remembered

The old Nettie Baisden School buildings are proposed for razing under the county’s capital improvement plan.

Things change, sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. That’s why we create memories and capture bygone eras in print and on film to be shared and remembered. These moments in time can be passed down from generation to generation.

The old Nettie Baisden Elementary School on Parshley Avenue in Live Oak will be demolished soon and another piece of Suwannee County history will be gone, but not forgotten. The building  has sat in disrepair and neglect for years and it’s time to move forward. The county is seeking to use the land for much-needed office and storage space.

History won’t be forgotten. Historian Eric Musgrove published his first segment today on the history of Nettie Baisden Elementary School (Click here to read that article). Folks will print it out, along with the photos, for keepsake. Eric will continue his history of the school next Friday.
