Eloise McCall Welch

Eloise McCall Welch, 85, a lifelong resident of Suwannee County passed away on Oct. 9, 2015 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. with her family and friends by her side following a brief illness.

Eloise was the daughter of the late Guilford and Florence McCall and was born on March 30, 1930 in O’Brien, Fla. She was the second youngest of five children. Her husband Berman Welch of 56 years as well as all of her siblings including Inez Collins, Eula Vann, Eugene McCall, and Gerald McCall preceded her in death. She is survived by her two daughters: Shine (Kenny) Greene of Miami, Fla. and Cindy Welch Bruce of Live Oak, Fla.; three grandchildren, Suni (Steven) Phillips of Glen St. Mary, Fla., Morgan Bruce and Taylor Bruce of Tifton, Ga., and one great-grandchild Kaylee Phillips. Eloise’s career spanned over many decades and included teaching at the McAlpin School, working as a medical ward clerk at Suwannee Hospital, being a substitute teacher in Live Oak, working at the ARC, as well as working in the canteen at Gold Kist until she retired in 1985 to being her most cherished role, grandmother. She was a devoted member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Macclenny, Fla.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Daniels Memorial Chapel with Brother Lynwood Davis officiating. Interment will follow in O’Brien Cemetery. A visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Daniels Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

Jack H. Land

Oct. 10, 2015

Jack H. Land, 81, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away on Oct. 10, 2015. Born in Mayo, Florida in 1934, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Freda Nell Land of Live Oak, Fla. and their six children: four daughters, Jackie (Mike) Huston of Jasper, Fla., Linda Land of Lake City, Fla., Cheryl Ann (Andy) Jackson of Live Oak, Fla., Melaine Land of Live Oak, Fla., and two sons, Terry (Ramona) Land of Live Oak, Fla., and Todd (Robin) Land of Walterboro, S.C. Twelve grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One brother, Colon (Carolyn) Land of Mayo, Fla., and one sister, Ottie Nash of Live Oak, Fla. Jack served in the United States Army with honorable mentions and received numerous awards with the Air Defense Command Marksmanship Rifle Team where he opposed the best civilian and military riflemen in the nation. Later, he was assigned as a radar specialist in the Second Artillery Group Headquarters Battery in Fort Niagara, N.Y. Jack retired after 35 years with the International Longshoreman Association in Jacksonville, Fla. to Live Oak, Fla. where he continued to enjoy his family and farm. Services were held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 at Daniels Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Bass officiating. Interment followed in Macedonia Cemetery.

Kathleen Marie Greene

July 16, 1951 – Oct. 11, 2015

Mrs. Kathleen Marie Greene, 64, of Branford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 at the Lafayette Health Care Center after an extended illness. She was born in Washington, D.C. on July 16, 1951, to the late William Lawrence Gibson and Juanita Delores Mostyn. She was a Correctional Officer for the State of Florida and was a resident of Suwannee County. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed cooking, quilting and sewing in her spare time.

She is survived by her daughters: Kellie Curl of Live Oak, Jennifer Greene of Branford and Hayley Winburn (Bobby) of Mayo; brothers: Fred Clements (Karen) of Newberry, Vermont and Gary Clements (Cindy) of Deland, Fla.; sisters: Sara Griffith of Branford, Lisa Hicks (Glenn) of Wellborn, Ida May (Charlie) of Walla Walla, Washington and Suzie Snider of Deland, Fla. Three grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.

Elizabeth Allen

Elizabeth Allen, 94, McAlpin, Fla., passed on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015. She lived in McAlpin most of her life and was a member of Luraville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her two daughters: Barbara (Dorsey) Greer, Gainesville, Ga., Alice (Richard) Ridley, Loxahatchee, Fla.; three sons: Harold “Buddy” (Frances) Allen, McAlpin, Fla., Andrew (Nancy) Allen, Jacksonville, Fla., Randall “Randy” (Sallie) Allen, Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother: Clyde Bryant, Live Oak, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Luraville Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Bankston, Rev. Ron Russ and Mr. Dorsey Greer officiating. There will be a visitation held prior to service from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Kristine “Krissy” McWatters

Oct. 27, 1951 – Oct. 11, 2015 

Krissy McWatters, age 63, of Live Oak, Fla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla. She was a native of Davenport, Iowa moving to Live Oak in 2004 from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She worked for Suwannee Glass as a receptionist, loved to play BINGO and was Christian by faith.

She is survived by two sons, T.J. McWatters, Dania, Fla.; Todd McWatters, Ft. Lee, Va.; two daughters, Terry Frances, Live Oak; Tanya Leonard, Jacksonville; one brother, Jack Carbaugh, Greer, S.C.; two sisters, Betty Rhodes, Slater, S.C.; Patty Richardson, Live Oak; seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Barry Dunlap, 71, Lake City, Fla. passed away on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015. The North Carolina native moved to Lake City from Fairfax, Va. in 2002 and was of the Church of God faith.

Mr. Dunlap is survived by his wife of 38 years: Joyce Dunlap, Lake City, Fla.; daughter: Jennifer Michelle (Joseph Daniel) Sawyer, Lake City; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Daniels Memorial Chapel with Rev. Fred Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery. There will be a visitation held from 1-2 p.m. before service.
