County officials said the applicant requested the rezoning to sell a portion of the property to the property owner immediately south to develop a 150-seat church building.
Both the Lowndes County Technical Review Committee and the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission recommended approval of the rezoning with no conditions.
The county will vote on proposals for the South Perimeter Road utility extension project. The project involves installing a 12-inch water main to service South Perimeter Road area developments and Lowndes Middle School. The project also involves installing an 8-inch sewer force main and regional lift station to service the area with public sewer service.
The $2,151,296.50 project will be paid with SPLOST VII funds.
The commission will consider giving its support for the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of the I-75 Southbound off-ramp and Shiloh Road at Exit 22. The Georgia Department of Transportation is requesting the county support a roundabout instead of a traffic signal. The county will be responsible for lighting installation, maintenance and landscape maintenance inside the roundabout.
The county will vote on purchasing a lift station pump at Bevel Creek. The pump is a triplex station that delivers 60 percent of the county’s wastewater flow to the Land Application System.
