June 21, 1918 – Sept. 8, 2015

Mr. Bernard Albert Weaver, age 97, of Live Oak, Fla., passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, 2015, at his home. He was born on June 21, 1918 in Wellborn, Fla. to Barney Alphonso Weaver and the former Linnie Pauline North. 

On June 28, 1941 he married the love of his life, Miss Elizabeth Thomas of Melbourne, Fla.

Mr. Weaver was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Live Oak for 80 years. He served in the Florida National Guard and the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and the Florida National Guard and was also a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed working with his hands and built the home he shared with Mrs. Weaver and their two children out of wood made from his uncle’s old tobacco barn. It truly was a labor of love.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with Mrs. Weaver in their garden. He was proud of his white acre peas that he planted each year.

Mr. Weaver was a good man. What more can be said of this beloved gentleman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Elizabeth Weaver, his daughter, Sharon Heber of Live Oak; his son, Bernie (Paulette) Weaver, Glennville, Ga.; a brother, Wilton Weaver, Orlando, Fla. and granddaughter Kristen Elisabeth Weaver of Charlotte, N.C.

Visitation was held one hour prior to the services from 10 to 11 a.m.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Hay officiating. Interment followed in the Live Oak cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 311 South Ohio Avenue, Live Oak, FL 32064.

Edward Graden Bradley Sr.

May 15, 1938 – Sept. 3, 2015

Edward Graden Bradley Sr., 77, passed away on Sept. 3, 2015 at Haven Hospice Lake City after battling a long illness. Born in Orlando, Florida, May 15, 1938 to the Late Lotis Bradley and Forrest Elizabeth Young-Bradley.

Edward proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps from 1955-57.

He worked for Trans World Airlines (TWA ) in Thailand, and upon returning he attended Palm Beach Junior College in Lake Worth, Florida for Computer Design. His most enjoyable employment was as an Auto Cad Computer Designer, which he retired from in 2002.

The joys of his life included his family, fishing, hunting and wood working. He loved to fish with his son and grandson and tinker around crafting things from wood.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Bradley of O’Brien, Fla.; children, Gregory Bradley (Kimberly) of O’Brien, Fla., Sherrie Anderson of Columbus, Ohio, Janet McKinney of Colorado Springs, Colo., David Bradley (LouAnn) of O’Brien, Fla., Thomas O’Hara of Jasper, Fla., Michael Bradley (Kathy) of Pikeville, N.C., Edward Bradley Jr. of Ocala, Fla., and Valerie Bradley of Donaldsonville, Ga. He has 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren  

The family is having a private ceremony. In lieu of flower make a donation to Haven Hospice of Lake City.

Nellie Mae Severance

Sept. 2, 2015

Nellie Mae Severance, 87, Branford, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. The Alachua, Fla. native was a lifelong resident of Branford and a member of First Baptist Church of Branford. She worked at Severance Grocery & Market for 25 years and at Nellie’s Beauty Shop for 20 plus years.

Mrs. Severance is survived by her daughter: Marie Johnson, Branford, Fla.; son: Hubert Severance, Branford, Fla.; one grandchild: Kelley Marie (Travis) Arnold; one great-grandchild: Laila Marie Arnold; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, at First Baptist Church Christian Life Center with Rev. Dan Main officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery.

Paul E. Hartmann, 89, Wellborn, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015.

Mr. Hartman is survived by his two daughters: Wanda Walters, Paulette (Michael) Carson; one son: CC “Bud” (Dorothy) Hartmann; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Zita Sophia Hartmann and son: Daná Hartmann.
