Linwood Walter Mallard
JENNINGS, Fla. — Linwood Walter Mallard, 84 of Jennings, Fla. passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Lake City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mallard was born on Aug. 1, 1919 to the late Grady and Winnie Mallard. He was a retired G.T.E. supervisor in Lakeland, Fla. before retiring and moving to the Jennings area seven and a half years ago. Mr. Mallard attended Burnham Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mallard; two sons, Donald Mallard, Jennings and John Mallard (Sandra), Mascot, Tenn.; one brother, Alvin Mallard, Wilmington, N.C.; two sisters, Lucille Andrews and Catherine Rhyne, both of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Burnham Christian Church, Jennings, Fla. — Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla.
Lonnie Kirkland Ray North
HOMERVILLE — Mrs. Lonnie Kirkland Ray North, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004, in The Morris Center in Jacksonville, Fla. following an extended illness.
A native of Clinch County, she lived in Jacksonville, Fla. most of her life. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for many years before joining the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was retired from Haverty’s and JC Penney’s and was the daughter of the late Cuylar and Charity Hughes Kirkland. She was the widow of Herman Ray and Ben North, and was preceded in death by two sons, Wilton Ray and Johnny Ray.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Brenda Ray of Lakeland; two daughters-in-law, Margaret Ray of Statenville and Peggy Ray of Callahan, Fla.; two sisters, Stella Carroll of Pensacola, Fla. and Charity Stalvey of Callahan, Fla.; a special nephew, Kylar Crosby of Callahan, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Services for Mrs. North will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home.
Interment will be held in the North Cemetery near DuPont.

Tommy Todd, Sr.
VALDOSTA — Tommy Todd, Sr., 75, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, July 07, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on Nov. 13, 1928, in Valdosta, he was the son of the late John and Eunice Davis Todd. Mr. Todd was a retired electrician and retired from the U. S. Army Reserve. He was an avid fan of local sports teams and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He graduated from VHS in 1948 and played for the Wildcats under Coach Wright Bazemore. He was deeply devoted to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Simpson Todd, Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy, Jr. and Ellen Todd, Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Gerry Russo, Valdosta; grandchildren, Erin Russo, Kelsey Russo, Michael Warren, all of Valdosta; sister, Louise Matthews, Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Fred Todd, Orange, Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond Simpson, Barney, Mack and Kay Simpson, Barney, James and Patricia Simpson, Hahira; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Marcine Croft, Tifton and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Todd.
Funeral services for Tommy Todd, Sr. will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2004 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Gerry Russo and Pastor Wayne Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery, Hahira. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
