Deacon Leslie McDaniel, a native of Suwannee County, transitioned from earth to eternal life Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Shands UF Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.
Deacon McDaniel was born May 20, 1955 to the late Rev. Solomon McDaniel and Mrs. Annie L. McDaniel. He was a member of the 1973 graduating class of Suwannee High School and a faithful member of Sweet Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Live Oak.
Deacon McDaniel married Winnie Loper on Dec. 6, 1980, and to this union one child was born.
Deacon McDaniel leaves memories in the hearts of his loving wife, Winnie McDaniel, Live Oak, Fla.; two sons, Leslie McDaniel II and Magnel (Shawntrice) Loper, both of Live Oak, Fla.; two grandchildren, Taryn and Magnel, both of Live Oak, Fla.; his devoted mother, Annie L. McDaniel of Live Oak, Fla.; four brothers, Sam (Sandy) McDaniel of Honolulu, Hawaii; Ronnie McDaniel of Huntsville, Ala.; Edward McDaniel of Live Oak, Fla.; and Derrick McDaniel of Tampa, Fla.; five sisters, Deloris (Berthel) Thompson of Live Oak, Fla.; Willie Mae Brown and Patricia McDaniel of Largo, Fla.; Maybel Tyler of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Shirley (Vassel) Sneed of Live Oak, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Paula Loper of Live Oak, Fla.; Dee (Raymond) Hetlage of Portland, Ore.; Jeannie McDaniel of Albany, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Charles Hall Jr. of Live Oak, Fla.; Don (Joyce) Loper of Portland, Ore.; three aunts, Geneva Loper of Daytona, Fla.; Earnestine Loper Henderson and Iola Griffin, both of Live Oak, Fla.; one uncle, Harry Manker of Sanford, Fla.; special friends, Juanita Grimmage, Kenneth Smith and Calvin Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Four siblings preceded Deacon McDaniel in death, one sister, Shirley Ann Giles; and three brothers, Solomon, Benjamin and Leroy McDaniel.
Services of remembrance have been planned to honor the life of Deacon Leslie McDaniel. Viewing and visitation: Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, 6-8 p.m., Sweet Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Home going service: Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, 1 p.m., Ebenezer AME Church.

Dorothy Kearney McCall, 96, Live Oak, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015.
The Dayton, Ohio native was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and Live Oak Women’s Club.
Mrs. McCall is survived by her husband of 59 years: Lloyd Franklin McCall, Live Oak, Fla.; six daughters: Diana (James) Windsor, Hartsfeild, S.C., Beverly Dicicco, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Shirley (Tom) Calhoun, Summerville, S.C., Bonnie Buxton, Largo, Fla., Peggy McCall, Clearwater, Fla., Pamela (Clarke) Hingson, Live Oak, Fla.; one son: Kevin (Janice) McCall, O’Brien, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Philadelphia Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Thomas officiating.
