Jonathan Smith

Jonathan Smith was born Feb. 13, 1935 to the late Reverend Henry and Jeanette Smith and lived in Live Oak, Florida until graduating from high school. He served in the U.S. Army. After discharge from the military he settled in Asbury Park, New Jersey and entered the trucking business for 50 years. He met and married the love of his life, Ms. Josephine Dove from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Upon retirement from the trucking industry Joe, as he was known to many, settled back in Live Oak where he and his wife enjoyed the rest of his days.

After a tough battle with illness, Jonathan began his eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Josephine Smith; two sons, Kevin Lee and Jonathan Smith, Jr. (Lisa); 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, two brothers, Alfred Smith (Theresa) and Lorenzo Smith; four sisters Odessa Smith, Elise Garner, Lucretia Smith, and Naomi Clayton (Willie James, Sr.); four sisters-in-law, Bessie Gilmore, Erma Adams, Ernestine Truss, and Mamie Hamen; brother-in-law, Charles Dove; a host of nieces, nephews, and two life-long buddies, R. B., Dorsey, and Ernest.

The family will meet and greet friends Friday evening, Feb. 12, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thomas’ Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be  held Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Triumph Holiness Church with Elder Arnold Philmore, Pastor, and Reverend Charles Martin officiating.

Bennie Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.

Felton L. Roberson

Feb. 8, 2016

Felton L. Roberson, 83, Live Oak, Fla., passed away on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. The Jasper, Fla. native served in the Navy and was a member of Antioch Baptist church in Live Oak. Mr. Felton retired from Occidental, he also worked for John Deere Tractors, Chevrolet Dealership and Daniels Funeral Homes. He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Mary Lou Roberson, Live Oak ; five daughters: Lori Harper, Victoria Stanvich, Susie Roberson, Mary Kay Dunaway, Crystal Forester all of Live Oak; son: Chris Woodham, Live Oak; two sisters: Marjorie Carmichael, Live Oak, Fla., Shirley Wood, Live Oak; three brothers: Laura B. “Sam” Roberson, Jr., Jimmy Roberson, Henry Roberson all of Live Oak; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. David McKeithen officiating. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 12-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers family asks donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church 5203 CR 795 Live Oak, FL 32060.
