Don “Russel” Byrd

Don “Russel” Byrd, 70, of Jennings, Fla., passed away suddenly on Jan. 18, 2016 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 22, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Paul Russel and Joyce Wildalee Kreager Byrd. Russel was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired insurance adjuster. He was a traveler and would load up the RV or take a cruise with his wife. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. Mr. Byrd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Russel is survived by his wife, Glenda Champion Byrd of Jennings, Fla.; his daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Jeff Trayler of Snohomish, Wash.; his son and daughter-in-law, John Russel “JR” and Jessica Byrd of Lake Stevens, Wash.; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Theo Rohr of Oakland, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Max, Ben, Nic, Luc, Rylie, Hannah, and Hudson; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Chuck Doland of Bellevue, Wash.; a nephew, Greg Doland of Kauai, Hawaii; a niece, Tara Mullins of Issaquah, Wash.; great nephew, Reece Doland of Kauai, Hawaii; great niece, Annika Mullins of Issaquah, Wash.

In honor of Mr. Byrd’s wishes, he will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the children’s ministry via the Azalea City Church of God building fund, 247 St. Augustine Rd, Valdosta, GA 31601.
